Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Scott Parker has been infected with boss Harry Redknapp’s optimism over a possible Premier League title charge – and the England international backs Redknapp’s view.

The Spurs boss recently commented that, in his eyes, the White Hart Lane outfit are challengers for the title, a view echoed by Parker.

"At the moment our form suggests we can give it a go", said the former West Ham midfielder.

"There is still a long way for us to go.

"It is new for us, but we are consistent at the moment and long may it continue.

"On our day we can beat anyone, but then you have got to realise that when you are at the top you have got to come out with three points even if you are not playing well by grinding out results, and on a couple of occasions this year we have done that."

And Parker, who has been a big reason behind Spurs’ superb form, rates the side he is a part of very highly.

"I’ve probably not played in a team that plays better football than this one", added the Englishman.
