Valencia coach Unai Emery has urged Chelsea to give Andre Villas-Boas time to implement his transformation on the club – although the Spaniard could deal the Portuguese a huge blow tonight.
Los Che only need a score draw at Stamford Bridge to progress to the the last 16 of the Champions League and knock Chelsea out. And given that Blues owner Roman Abramovich craves European glory, an exit could be harmful to Villas-Boas’ managerial health.
Nevertheless, Emery has backed the former FC Porto coach to get it right.
"Coming to a big club like this and trying to implement his style takes time", said the Valencia coach.
"With the way he works, the results will be there in the future.
"It’s not going to be good, it’s going to be very good. I’m sure of that.
"They might have struggled a bit so far, but when you want to achieve excellence, as Andre and the club want, it takes a bit more time."
