Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has expressed his relief at finishing top of the club’s Champions League group.
The Gunners lost their final game of Group F 3-1 to Olympiacos in Athens last night, but still topped the standings by a single point, with Marseille qualifying in second.
And Wenger, who can well remember paying a heavy price for finishing second behind Shakhtar Donetsk last season – Arsenal drew Barcelona in the knockout phase – is happy to have righted that wrong this time around.
The Frenchman would not name names over who he wishes to play in the Round of 16, but did admit those he wises to avoid are group top dogs.
"Most of the teams I don’t like to play are top of their group, so that’s not bad because we can only play a second team", said Wenger.
"I wouldn’t like to say I don’t want to play this team, so we would be an inferior position.
"So it’s better to wait for the draw. Now it becomes like a cup game and you could see tonight that Olympiacos played it like a cup game."
