Former Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti has played down speculation that he is in line to take over as Roma coach.

Current Giallorossi boss Luis Enrique is under severe pressure and his short reign may be ended if the club lose their Serie A clash to Juventus next Monday.

Speculation has been rife that Ancelotti has been sounded out, but this is something the ex-AC Milan man denies.

Asked whether he had accepted an offer to take over at Roma, Ancelotti replied: "I don’t think they’ve had this idea.

"Otherwise they would have called."

Ancelotti has made no secret of his desire to coach Roma at some point in the future.

Indeed, despite the Italian insisting his next club job would be in the English Premier League, any offer from the Giallorossi would surely be too good to turn down.
