Anzhi Makhachkala are thought to have added another name to their wanted list – that of Sevilla striker Frederic Kanoute.

Out of contract at the end of the current season, the Mali international is not expected to continue his stay at Los Rojiblancos and could be attracted by the idea of a large final pay day in Russia.

The 34-year-old has been a mainstay for Sevilla since joining the club in 2005 from Tottenham Hotspur.

In Spain Kanoute has flourished, scoring goals for fun with Sevilla and quickly becoming the club’s main goal threat.

Anzhi Makhachkala owner Suleyman Kerimov is set on transforming the Dagestan side into Champions League contenders and the likes of Roberto Carlos, Samuel Eto’o and Yuri Zhirkov have already been signed to help make the dream a reality.

It would be little surprise to see Kanoute follow suit.
