Basel goalkeeper Yann Sommer has explained that the fact his side have beaten Manchester United to qualify for the Champions League Round of 16 at the English champions’ expense is incredible.
Sommer was in good form on the night and along with his team-mates had to withstand a United barrage – the Swiss giants stood firm though and claimed a memorable 2-1 win.
The result has left keeper Sommer in dreamland.
"It’s crazy, we beat Manchester United at home. It was our last chance to go through", announced the goalkeeper.
"What can I say? It’s incredible.
"We’re a Swiss team in a small country against one of the biggest teams in the world.
"We believe in ourselves. We fought until the end, this was key."
Sommer and co. can now look forward to a Champions League Round of 16 draw which could pair the side with the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid.
