Lyon left back Aly Cissokho, who came close to moving to Newcastle United in the summer, has restated his desire to play in the English Premier League.

The 24-year-old could well be granted his wish in the winter transfer window, especially as Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has admitted that finances may dictate departures.

And Cissokho would head abroad and not remain in France.

"I liked to play in Portugal", said the defender, who has previously played for FC Porto, adding: "I want a different experience abroad.

"I love English football. I watch it all the time.

"If not, I want to play lots of games including in the Champions League."

Cissokho has played 16 times in Ligue 1 with Lyon this season.
