Tottenham Hotspur’s hopes of signing Barcelona right back Martin Montoya have been dealt a blow after confirmation from the Spaniard that he hopes to ink a new contract at the Camp Nou.
Spurs have been tracking the 20-year-old along with the likes of Bayern Munich, Roma and Valencia, after he impressed with Barcelona’s B team.
The European champions rate Montoya highly however and have consistently been keen to ensure the youth product continues his career at the Camp Nou.
And despite fierce competition for a first team spot under Josep Guardiola, Montoya is ready to trust in Barcelona for his continued development.
"Yes, I want to renew", said Montoya when asked whether his future was with the Blaugrana.
Montoya faces a tough task to dislodge experienced Brazilian Dani Alves, but crucially has the faith of Guardiola.
