Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku has promised to end his career at Anderlecht.
The Belgian giants, whose full name is Royal Sporting Club Anderlecht, are the side at which Lukaku started his professional career and the one from which he moved in order to join Chelsea in the summer.
Lukaku holds fond memories of his time with Anderlecht and still thinks well of the Belgian giants.
"I played with the club for six years", said the 18-year-old on a visit back to Anderlecht, adding: "I feel at home here.
"But it was also a dream for me to play for Chelsea, and I also believe that it is a great honour for Sporting that I’m there now, as RSCA are still my club."
And the striker was clear over just why he had opted to join Andre Villas-Boas’ Blue revolution at Stamford Bridge, also fully accepting that it may take time to break through into the first team.
"I chose to go for a bigger league", said the striker.
"It wasn’t for financial reasons, but for the challenge and also because it was a good deal for Sporting.
"I know I may not play much, but sooner or later I’ll have a change of luck.
"When I arrived in the first team of Anderlecht, I was, as now in London, a third-choice striker, so I know more than anyone how quickly things can change in football.
"My team-mate Daniel Sturridge is the perfect example. He played with the Blues from the age of 19 and now he’s 22 and is just beginning to earn his stripes."
Lukaku gave Anderlecht’s fans some cheer too, admitting that he wants to finish his career with the Belgian side.
"But I will return here one day.
"Anderlecht is where it all started and it is where I will finish my career."
