Villarreal president Fernando Roig has confirmed that Napoli are interested in Yellow Submarine striker Giuseppe Rossi.

The Italian was heavily linked with an exit from Villarreal over the summer, with Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur both believed to be keen on securing his services.

Following the sale of Santi Cazorla to Malaga however, the Yellow Submarine fought hard to keep the 24-year-old at the club.

But earlier this season Villarreal were rocked as Rossi suffered a cruciate knee injury, ruling him out of action for six months.

And while Napoli have been confirmed as suitors, no bid will surely land until next summer.

"Giuseppe Rossi will keep playing for Villarreal", Roig told Mediaset when asked about the hitman’s immediate future.

He added however, "Napoli president [Aurelio] De Laurentiis is interested, but we haven’t reached any agreement."
