Holland have received a boost as coach Bert van Marwijk has extended his contract as national team boss.

Van Marwijk’s spell in charge of the Oranje, since taking over in 2008, has been hailed as a success and the World Cup final was reached last year, with only Spain proving too good for the Dutch.

Holland were keen to secure the 59-year-old’s future well beyond Euro 2012 and after talks have been able to do just that.

Van Marwijk, the father-in-law of AC Milan midfielder Mark van Bommel, has agreed to stay on as Oranje coach until 2016.

The coach has previously managed the likes of Fortuna Sittard, Feyenoord and Borussia Dortmund.

In Euro 2012, Holland have been drawn in Group B along with bitter rivals Germany, neighbours Denmark and Portugal.
