Former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has become the latest big name coach to be targeted by Russian Premier League outfit Anzhi Makhachkala.
The wealthy Dagestan club have been without a coach since parting company with Gadzhi Gadzhiyev in September.
Brazilian legend Roberto Carlos has been helping out Andrei Gordeyev in the Anzhi hot seat, with the Russian side’s long term plans involving bringing in one of the best managers in world football.
The likes of Marcello Lippi, Guus Hiddink, Fabio Capello and Senol Gunes have all been linked, with Anzhi keen to talk to as many potential candidates as possible.
And now the side which boast Samuel Eto’o in attack are believed to have held talks with Benitez over the possibility of the Champions League-winning manager taking charge.
The Spaniard has been out of work since parting company with Inter one year ago this month, and could be tempted by the lucrative contract that would surely be on offer in Russia.
Benitez is known to be looking to return to the game, but has been primarily interested in the English Premier League and Spanish La Liga.
He has also recently been targeted by Paris Saint-Germain.
