Bayern Munich are preparing to blow their rivals out of the water for Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Marco Reus.
The 22-year-old has been largely responsible for Gladbach’s superb showing in this season’s Bundesliga, and it is little coincidence that as the man who has bagged 10 goals from 14 league games has been injured, his team have gone off the boil.
Reus’ has secured his reputation as one of the next big things in German football and, far more realistic a transfer target than Borussia Dortmund’s Mario Gotze, whom the Ruhr club will not sell for any price, is set to start a scramble.
Bayern Munich have tracked Reus and, consistent with their policy of hoovering up the top German talents, are keen.
From England both Liverpool and Manchester City are thought to have an interest in the midfielder, who can also play up front, though each have appeared to be biding their time.
That cannot happen for much longer though, with Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge confirming that the Bavarians are ready to make a move for Reus.
"According to our information, Reus would cost €17.5M", said Rummenigge, revealing that the German giants have taken soundings over what bid would be needed.
"This is a high amount, but we are very interested in him", added the CEO.
