Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has been honoured as the "Discovery of the Year" in his homeland of Poland.
The shot-stopper was handed the prestigious award for 2011 by Polish magazine Pilka Nozna.
Szczesny’s performances for the Gunners were the side’s only bright spot in a poor start to the season as he continued on from an impressive second half of the 2010/11 campaign.
Arsenal have since bounced back however and now sit in the English Premier League’s top four, with Szczesny an integral part of manager Arsene Wenger’s set-up.
The keeper is also highly rated in his homeland and has been tipped to follow in Poland’s tradition of excellent number 1s.
Elsewhere in the awards, Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski was handed Poland’s "Outstanding Player of the Year" accolade.
The striker made 33 appearances for Dortmund in their Bundesliga-winning campaign last season.
