Manchester United have suffered a blow with the news that midfielder Darren Fletcher is to spend a spell on the sidelines.
The Scot has been diagnosed with a chronic bowel condition and it is not yet clear for how long the Red Devils will have to do without him.
Fletcher’s last appearance for Manchester United came on 22nd November in the Champions League against Benfica.
The blow leaves manager Sir Alex Ferguson with another midfield headache and will increase the pressure on the Red Devils boss to enter the January transfer market.
