Santos striker Neymar is aiming to swap shirts with Barcelona star Lionel Messi in the Club World Cup.

The South American champions and the European champions will meet on Sunday if both win their respective semi-final clashes in Japan – something that seems likely indeed.

And that is a view to which Neymar subscribes as he is already planning to exchange shirts with the player he believes is the very best in the world at present.

Neymar has been tipped by Pele to surpass Messi in the future, a comment that caused Diego Maradona to suggest the veteran Brazilian had taken the wrong pills.

And the 19-year-old striker too still looks up to Messi.

"I want to swap my shirt with Lionel Messi", said the Santos star.

"He is the best player in the world and I want to do everything he does.

"He is above all others."
