Paris Saint-Germain are ready to rival Marseille for Chelsea striker Salomon Kalou should the Ivory Coast hitman be allowed to leave Stamford Bridge.

Kalou has found playing time hard to come by under Andre Villas-Boas this season and was recently identified by Marseille coach Didier Deschamps as a potential January transfer window acquisition.

Deschamps wants to add another striker to his squad to address goalscoring concerns at the Stade Velodrome.

Only Loic Remy has looked a consistent goal threat for the Ligue 1 giants, while Andre-Pierre Gignac is expected to leave in the new year after not seeing eye to eye with Deschamps.

And so Kalou is the perfect solution to Marseille’s problems, though any swoop could be called off if the 26-year-old heads to the African Cup of Nations in January.

PSG too though are thinking about moving for Kalou, especially if they lose out to AC Milan for Carlos Tevez, and the Parc des Prince side could make Chelsea and the player a substantial offer.

Sporting director Leonardo may also not be put off by the Ivorian’s potential Nations Cup involvement.
