Roma are pondering launching a swoop for Lyon’s promising young defender Dejan Lovren.

Sources in Italy have confirmed that the 22-year-old is under consideration in the Italian capital with the Giallorossi disappointed with the way their defence has performed so far this season.

And Lovren is seen as a possible solution.

Lyon would be unlikely to stand in the way of a big money bid for the Croatian given the club have a slight financial deficit to close during the January transfer window.

Full back Aly Cissokho is expected to be sold, with Borussia Dortmund interested, but Lovren could beat the former FC Porto man out of the door.

Les Gones are thought to rate Lovren at around the €9.5M mark.

If the defender did move to Rome, he would be reunited with former Lyon team-mate Miralem Pjanic, who made the switch in the summer.
