Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy has vowed to block any of the club’s star names from leaving in the January transfer window.

Spurs’ key men Luka Modric and Gareth Bale were heavily linked with exits from White Hart Lane over the summer, but Levy stood firm and interest was fended off.

It is something the Spurs chief intends to do again.

"We have a great squad with exceptional talent", said Levy, adding: "and none of the main players will be leaving in January."

Harry Redknapp’s men have emerged as surprise Premier League title contenders this season, with the reclaiming of a place in the top four looking the very minimum ambition.

It is something Levy is delighted with.

"I hope we have a great season and that we can finish in the top for or, who knows, maybe even higher. We want first place", said the chairman.
