Barcelona have suffered a blow with David Villa being carried off in his side’s 4-0 Club World Cup semi-final win over Al Saad.
The Spanish striker picked up his injury in the 39th minute.
It was quickly confirmed by the club themselves that Villa has fractured his tibia.
“Bad news for David Villa and Barca: the striker’s left tibia is fractured”, announced the club on their official Twitter feed.
“The player has been taken to the Yokohama Rosa Hospital for further tests.”
Barcelona won the match comfortably with goals from Adriano (two), Seydou Keita and Maxwell.
