Former Juventus striker David Trezeguet has arrived in Argentina to sign a deal with River Plate – and he could not be more delighted.
The 34-year-old recently terminated his contract with Abu Dhabi based side Baniyas and is keen to return to the country of his roots.
Trezeguet may have represented France at international level, but his father Jorge Trezeguet is Argentinian and the former Juventus striker’s club career began with Argentine side Club Atletico Platense before a switch to Monaco.
Now Trezeguet is looking forward to experiencing life with one of Argentina’s giants – River Plate.
"Playing for River Plate is the very pinnacle", said the 1998 World Cup winner.
"I am ready to give my best.
"To be back in Argentina is a dream.
"I left Buenos Aires when I was very young and now I’m very excited."
