Francesco Totti has played down comments that he made which suggested he was considering leaving Roma.

The Giallorossi icon was insulted by Roma fans recently, a factor which, combined with an often uneasy relationship with coach Luis Enrique, was believed to be pushing him towards the exit door.

But Totti is backtracking on his earlier claim that time in the Italian capital could be limited.

“I was misunderstood”, Totti told Corriere.it.

“My words caused concern? Don’t worry, I’m going to stay at Roma forever.

“Was I insulted on the street? Yes.”

Totti also dismissed thoughts that those fans who abused him could be, in fact, Lazio supporters.
