Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish has hailed the performance of Craig Bellamy in the club’s 2-0 win away at Aston Villa.
The Reds were comfortable throughout, going in 2-0 up at half-time with goals from Bellamy and Martin Skrtel; Liverpool could and perhaps should have found the net even more than twice in the first 45, while further daylight could have been put between Dalglish’s side and Villa in the second 45.
Both Charlie Adam and Luis Suarez missed clear-cut chances, while Stewart Downing could not convert on his return to Villa Park. But Liverpool were happy to claim the three points and also take a clean sheet to Merseyside in the process.
And Bellamy, who scored Liverpool’s first, was singled out for special praise by Dalglish.
"He’s excellent. He’s been fantastic since he came in", said the Scot of his Welsh striker.
"He’s good in the dressing room, he’s good on the training pitch, he’s good on the pitch.
"He’s been no problem whatsoever for us. He’s been excellent and is really good to have around the place.
"That’s another really good performance from him there."
The win sees Liverpool sit in sixth, level on points with fifth-placed Arsenal and just three behind Chelsea, who occupy the all-important fourth spot.
