Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has hailed striker Robin van Persie as "incredible" as his Citizens side prepare to meet the Dutchman’s Gunners.

Van Persie has notched a superb 14 goals in his last eleven games, meaning he will arrive in Manchester in lethal form – Arsenal’s hopes of grabbing a win surely rest on the 28-year-old’s shoulders.

And Mancini is alive to the danger posed by the Feyenoord youth product.

"We know that every game we could meet a top striker", said Mancini. "In the last game we met [Didier] Drogba, and on Sunday Van Persie.

"We must work harder when you play against a top team with a top striker.

"Van Persie is an incredible player.

"At this moment he is very good, like Arsenal. At this moment they are playing very well."

City will have a particular interest in Van Persie at Eastlands as Mancini has been mooted as a potential suitor for the Dutchman next summer if he does not extend his contract with Arsene Wenger’s men.
