Schalke are keen to keep Peruvian striker Jefferson Farfan at the club.

Horst Heldt, who serves as general manager at the Ruhr giants, has confirmed that the club wish to extend the 27-year-old’s contract and have not yet received any bids for his services.

Farfan has been tipped to leave Schalke in January given that his contract ends next summer and so far no new deal has been inked by the quick forward.

But Heldt hopes the player may still stay.

"We would like to extend his contract, but we can’t wait forever", said the Schalke general manager.

"At the moment, we have not received any official offers for him."
