Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson was delighted to see his troops come away from Queens Park Rangers with three points via a 2-0 win.

Loftus Road has been a tricky place for teams to visit this season, with Chelsea having lost at the ground, while Manchester City needed to score three times to edge out 3-2 winners.

But goals from Wayne Rooney and Michael Carrick, combined with the defensive solidity Ferguson has demanded ever since the 6-1 defeat at the hands of Manchester City, stood United in good stead and meant three points were secured.

And Ferguson could not be happier.

"We could have scored a lot of goals today", the United boss told MUTV.

"The one good thing that comes out of today is that Queens Park Rangers in their home games have been a real problem to a lot of teams, but we kept them quiet for most of the game and we played some terrific football at times."

The Scot also saluted midfielder Carrick, who capped off an impressive display with a goal.

"When Michael Carrick scored that second goal, I think that put it to bed. He’s supposed to sit in the middle of the pitch. I’ll maybe have to fine him!

"But he’s right bang on form, Michael, he’s been terrific in the last few weeks and we’re pleased with that."
