Wealthy Russian Premier League side Anzhi Makhachkala are bidding to sign a second player from Chelsea in the space of six months.
And the man on Anzhi’s wanted list this time is French winger Florent Malouda.
The Dagestan giants signed Yuri Zhirkov from the Blues in August for a fee of around £13M and money will be no object in their pursuit of the Frenchman.
Anzhi, who boast the likes of Samuel Eto’o, Roberto Carlos and Mbark Boussoufa within their ranks, are thought to have put a deal worth €6M per year on the table for Malouda to consider.
The 31-year-old has featured only sporadically for Chelsea, with manager Andre Villas-Boas preferring to deploy summer signing Juan Mata and up and coming English forward Daniel Sturridge.
There is a sense that a new era is dawning at Stamford Bridge, with Nicolas Anelka heading to Shanghai Shenhua in January and looking likely to be joined by Didier Drogba.
Malouda therefore may well be tempted by the offer Anzhi have made.
The Russian side would also have little trouble agreeing a fee with Chelsea for the former Lyon schemer, who has just six months remaining on his current contract at Stamford Bridge.
