Roma are keen on Tottenham Hotspur defender Vedran Corluka as they seek to bolster their squad in the January transfer window.

The Giallorossi have failed to live up to their own high standards this season and, with the millions of new owner Thomas DiBenedetto available, are ready to splash further cash in order to ensure a challenge for a Champions League spot in the second half of the season.

And to this end Corluka has been identified.

The Croatian has struggled for first team football so far this season at White Hart Lane and Spurs boss Harry Redknapp may be open to dealing with Roma, either sending Corluka to the Italian capital on loan or in a permanent switch.

News of the Giallorossi’s interest has been noted by the player’s agent, with Nikky Vuksan declaring that: "Roma are one of the biggest clubs in Europe and I would accept him wearing their shirt."

Vuksan also indicated that a meeting with Spurs was on the cards to discuss his client’s options – continuing to kick his heels at White Hart Lane is not agreeable to the 25-year-old.
