Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Blaise Matuidi has revealed he is disappointed to be missing the club’s midweek Ligue 1 clash against his former side Saint-Etienne, but insists he will still be present at the ground.
In the final round of fixtures before Christmas, PSG are desperate to end the year sitting on top of the French league, but Saint-Etienne will do all they can to ensure that does not happen.
For Matuidi, missing the battle is difficult to take.
"I’m disappointed to miss this reunion", said the tough-tackling midfielder.
"But I’ll be there for the pleasure of seeing my [former] team-mates and the staff at Saint-Etienne.
"ASSE taught me a lot, helped me to mature, to build me a mind to face all events.
"With the Greens I had a great time, but I also had to face more difficult times.
"You saw the media pressure, the expectations of the supporters."
