Everton manager David Moyes has warned Chelsea that if they are interested in Jack Rodwell then a premium price will need to be paid.

Speculation has swirled that Andre Villas-Boas is preparing to bid for Rodwell in the January transfer window and a fee of some £20M has been mooted.

But Moyes has yet to field an official bid from the Blues and insists that if the player was sold then it would be expensive business for any interested party.

"I have had no offers, no contact from Chelsea – there would not be any other words I could add to that", said the Toffees boss.

"There is nothing from me. We’ve had no phone call", he added.

And Moyes insists that Everton would not sell on the cheap even if a concrete bid did arrive.

"We’ve always said if anyone wants to bid for the players we can’t stop that happening, but what we do do is sell expensively.

"If we are sellers we are always expensive sellers."
