Everton have made an official bid for Cliftonville striker Rory Donnelly, while Arsenal are also considering joining the chase.
Donnelly is becoming one of the most sought-after young players in the UK, with Swansea having bid £100,000 and Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish having registered an interest.
Arsenal sent a representative to check on the 19-year-old goal-getter on Wednesday, but Donnelly sat out Cliftonville’s fixture.
The Gunners though are not likely to drop their interest and could offer Donnelly yet another possible destination.
Everton meanwhile are thought to have put an offer substantially in excess of Swansea’s on Cliftonville’s desk as the Toffees step up their attempts to snare the striker.
Donnelly has notched 17 goals this season and has excelled with Cliftonville.
A scout from Championship big spenders Leicester City also joined Arsenal’s representative on Wednesday in an effort to watch the promising talent.
