Bordeaux president Jean-Louis Triaud has given his blessing to David Beckham’s imminent move to Paris Saint-Germain.

Beckham is believed to be on the verge of signing an 18-month contract in the French capital, which will earn the 36-year-old a basic €5M per year, along with a cut of television income from PSG having their games shown more often in Asia.

There has been much reaction to the sums Beckham will reportedly be earning, but for Bordeaux chief Triaud, big money for the former Real Madrid man is not necessarily a bad thing.

"I understand that people may be shocked by the salary that he will receive in Paris", said Triaud to RMC.

"But on the other hand, I think that the money is coming from Qatar.

"Payroll taxes that he pays can be used to fund social security in France.

"If he pays taxes in France, I hope the state will get a lot. I hope he is wasteful and he spends a lot of money in the shops in Paris to help French trade."
