Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas has hailed the club’s passing game, delighting that, in his words, it "exploded to wonderful levels" in the 1-1 draw away at Tottenham Hotspur last night.
The Blues fell behind to an Emmanuel Adebayor goal at White Hart Lane after just eight minutes, but hit back when Daniel Sturridge finished off a slick move in the 23rd minute.
Chelsea also came close to grabbing the goal that would have won the game as Didier Drogba hit the woodwork and Brazilian midfielder Ramires wasted a glorious chance to head home, finding himself completely unmarked in the centre of the penalty area.
The disappointment of a point was balanced out for Villas-Boas though by his side’s fine display, particularly with the ball at their feet.
"I think that our passing game exploded to wonderful levels here", said the Portuguese.
"It is fantastic to watch this team play when they find each other in possession the way they did. It was outstanding, remarkable.
"Coming to Tottenham and playing this kind of football is gratifying. The character and the personality we showed, and the way we adapted to new realities after injuries, was fantastic to see."
The former FC Porto boss also stressed that he wants to see blood, sweat and tears for the blue shirt.
"I want to see people who will die for the cause and our commitment was excellent."
