AC Milan are prepared to hold on for the entire January transfer window to sign Carlos Tevez from Manchester City.
The Italian champions have, as yet, been unable to agree a deal with Tevez’ English side and are finding it difficult to satisfy the requirements needed to take the Argentine to the San Siro.
Indeed, City want to offload Tevez on a permanent basis and are unwilling to send the 27-year-old to Milan on a free loan until the end of the season.
Talks have not broken up though and Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani is determined to give Tevez every chance of signing for the reigning Serie A champions, even if it means missing out on Catania forward Maxi Lopez.
"Will Tevez be a Christmas present for the fans?", mused Galliani to Sky Italia.
"It’s tough in a period of economic difficulty, but we will try to keep the supporters happy", added the Italian.
"Maxi Lopez? Catania have been very kind and open, but I made a promise to Carlitos that we’ll wait for him until 31st January.
"If Tevez does not arrive, then we stay at we are."
