Former Brazil striker Romario has bemoaned the state of his country’s national team.
The Selecao are undergoing a period of transition under coach Mano Menezes, but even so possess some exceptionally skilled talents, such as Santos striker Neymar.
Romario though, who won the 1994 World Cup with Brazil when the tournament was held in the United States, is pessimistic for the future.
Asked about his view on the current state of the Brazilian national team, Romario was clear in his assessment.
"If Brazil continue to play football in the same way as that which they have shown us, then we run the risk of not progressing past the group stage [at the 2014 World Cup]", the veteran striker told O Globo.
Romario won 70 caps for Brazil, scoring 55 goals.
