Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has declared himself delighted with being crowned the African Player of the Year.

The powerful Ivory Coast schemer enjoyed a 2011 to remember, with some stellar displays for the Citizens and an FA Cup winners medal.

And his feats have been recognised by the Confederation of African Football, something which makes Toure happy.

"I am very happy", said the former Barcelona man.

"It’s a satisfaction for me and it means that I’ve done my job very well."

Asked whether he had expected the honour, Toure replied: "No. I honestly did not and for me it is a very great joy."
