Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has backed Ryan Giggs to continue playing for the club next season.
Giggs recently admitted that the time was approaching where he would sit down with Ferguson and decide whether to lace up his boots for another season in the cut and thrust world of the Premier League.
And despite being 38 years old, Ferguson has confirmed that he will tell Giggs there is little reason for him to hang up his boots in the summer.
"I think Ryan can play another year", commented the United boss.
"There is no evidence at this moment in time that his energy, stamina or speed are decreasing.
"In fact it’s exactly the same as it was the last two or three years. It’s amazing."
Ferguson did admit however that he cannot predict what view Giggs will take when the current campaign reaches its conclusion.
"I know it’s mid-season now and it all depends on what Ryan thinks about his future too.
"He knows he can’t go on forever. We know he can’t go on forever.
"But, on the evidence of what we are seeing at the moment, I think he can play for another year."
