Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas has rubbished talk that he has been handed £140M to spend in January to reshape the Blues’ squad.

Three consecutive 1-1 draws, the latest of which came yesterday at home to Fulham, have dealt a heavy blow to Chelsea’s hopes of forcing their way into the Premier League title race.

And it had been reported that the Portuguese would have a substantial £140M transfer kitty with which to change his side’s fortunes in 2012.

But Villas-Boas has dashed those hopes.

"The story is not true", stated the former FC Porto boss.

"Whatever business we do, we will do it properly and quietly, but we won’t do a lot and not with those amounts.

"That is an outstanding amount of money, but it makes no sense at all."
