Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted that if he wants to add to his squad he will have to ship players out.
Wenger is set to lose Marouane Chamakh and Gervinho to the African Cup of Nations next month and speculation has been rife that the Gunners boss will dip into the transfer market.
The Frenchman has stated his hope that summer signing Park Chu-Young can answer the call, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is also capable of taking a frontline role if needed.
Even so, Wenger has still pondered entering the market, with Thierry Henry a loan option, but he has concluded that the books must be balanced.
"The problem we have first of all is that we have a big squad", said Wenger when musing about his set-up for January.
"To add players to our big squad, we will have to see how we can balance the books as well."
A move could be on the agenda for Chamakh, with the Moroccan already having stated his unhappiness at a lack of playing time at the Emirates Stadium.
