Guangzhou Evergrande are bidding to push their way into the race for Chelsea striker Didier Drogba.

The Ivory Coast international has a lucrative offer on the table from Shanghai Shenhua, who wish to pair the 33-year-old up with Blues team-mate Nicolas Anelka, all under the watchful eye of new coach Jean Tigana.

The Blue Devil want nothing less than the Chinese Super League title next season – a title Guangzhou Evergrande are defending.

And Guangzhou, who also have significant financial backing, are ready to offer Drogba an alternative destination in China.

The Southern China Tiger swooped for Argentine midfielder Dario Conca in July, a player who had been crowned the best performer in the Brazilian top flight for two successive seasons, signing him to a deal worth over $10M per season.

Opposing Shanghai then for Drogba is an entirely realistic prospect for Guangzhou.

The Chinese side also believe that the powerful striker would boost their chances of a successful Asian Champions League campaign.
