Thiago Silva has confirmed that he wishes to see out his career at AC Milan.

The Brazilian defender was targeted by Barcelona in the summer and the Blaugrana are believed to still hold an interest in the centre back.

But Silva, who has been compared with the legendary Franco Baresi by the Rossoneri faithful, wants to stay at the San Siro and become a symbol of the team, like the former Italy favourite – news that will be music to Milan’s ears.

"This is one of the best times of my career", said the 27-year-old.

"When my contract ends in 2016, I want to speak to Adriano Galliani to sign for five more seasons.

"I want to become a symbol of AC Milan."

The tough-tackling Brazilian is rated as one of the finest defenders in world football at present and the Rossoneri will be delighted with his commitment.
