Patrice Evra has hailed his Manchester United team-mate Dimitar Berbatov and believes the Bulgarian reaped the rewards of his regular hard work against Wigan Athletic.
Berbatov managed a hat-trick in United’s 5-0 win over the Latics on Boxing Day and it was all the more impressive a feat given that the game represented only the striker’s second start in the Premier League this season.
The Bulgarian used the opportunity to remind Sir Alex Ferguson of the firepower that he can call upon and Evra could not be happier.
"I’m always happy when Dimitar is scoring because he’s a nice guy and deserves it a lot", Evra told MUTV.
"He’s had a difficult moment not playing a lot, but he’s been working really hard.
"You see the strikers we’ve got: Danny Welbeck is on fire, Chicharito, Wayne Rooney…this is United. We have to have the competition for every place.
"You see Berba scored a hat-trick and he deserves it because he wants to play."
