Everton and Tottenham Hotspur have emerged as the latest suitors for Catania forward Maxi Lopez.
The 27-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to AC Milan, although that track appears to have hit a dead end after the Rossoneri declared that they are willing to wait until 31st January to sign Carlos Tevez from Manchester City.
And despite Milan remaining interested in Lopez, no swoop will be launched in the winter window as a result.
The road then is open for interest from elsewhere.
From England, both Everton and Tottenham are believed to hold an interest, while in Italy, Fiorentina could move for the Argentine if Alberto Gilardino, as expected, signs for Genoa.
Lopez has been a huge hit in Serie A since joining Catania in 2010 from Russian side FC Moscow; the powerful hitman managed 12 goals in 17 league games in the second half of the 2009/10 campaign and has since followed this up with further regular goal-getting.
The forward had moved to Russia from Barcelona in 2007 following a two-year spell at the Camp Nou which was marked by failure to cement a first team spot.
Lopez did however win La Liga twice and the Champions League with the Catalans.
