Cristiano Ronaldo has ruled out leaving Real Madrid, explaining that, although he learned his football in England, La Liga is the world’s best league.

The Portuguese is working with countryman Jose Mourinho to dethrone Barcelona, though the going has been tough.

And given any indication that the 26-year-old would consider leaving the Bernabeu, a whole host of clubs would be interested, not least big spenders Manchester City.

But although Ronaldo appreciates England, where he starred with Manchester United, he will not leave Spain.

"In England I learned the basic rules of football and, most importantly, discipline", said the Real Madrid man.

"But I will not leave Madrid.

"La Liga is the best league in the world in terms of quality."

Ronaldo has scored a whopping 20 goals in just 16 La Liga games this season and is clearly enjoying his time in the Spanish top flight.
