Real Madrid are tracking Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Marco Reus according to Madrid-based daily Marca.

Reus has shone in this season’s Bundesliga, helping die Fohlen to maintain an unlikely title challenge; Gladbach lie just four points behind league leaders Bayern Munich.

The 22-year-old has been targeted by the Bavarians, with an €18M swoop mooted as being in the works.

However, recently Bayern star Bastian Schweinsteiger revealed that he does not believe taking Reus to the Allianz Arena would be a wise move – and Real Madrid could take advantage of the dissent among the Bavarians by launching their own bid.

Los Blancos boss Jose Mourinho is extremely attentive to German talent and has already snapped up Mesut Ozil and Sami Khedira from the Bundesliga in recent years, while Hamit Altintop was also brought to the Bernabeu from Bayern Munich last summer.

Reus’ would undoubtedly cost a hefty fee, with at least €18M being needed.

The midfielder has scored ten goals in 15 Bundesliga appearances this season.
