Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish is hoping the home win over Newcastle United last night will herald the start of a spell where the Reds get what they deserve at home.

Before the clash at Anfield, Liverpool had drawn six of their nine home games – not good enough for a side with Champions League aspirations.

Against Newcastle though Dalglish’s men were energetic and even a shock goal from midfielder Yohan Cabaye, which handed the Magpies the lead, did not put them off their stride.

Craig Bellamy levelled matters after 29 minutes to ensure the sides went in level at 1-1 at half time, before the Welshman added a second midway through the second half.

Returning skipper Steven Gerrard, on as a second half substitute, then capped off the night to make it 3-1 and Liverpool had all three points in the bag.

And for Dalglish it was no more than the team deserved.

"I thought it was a fully deserved victory", said the Scot.

"We showed great courage, commitment and desire to get back into the game after losing a goal. We equalised, Martin [Skrtel] had a great clearance off the line and I think we deserved to win."

Dalglish now hopes that the Reds will earn their corn at Anfield more regularly.

"It’s probably the game where we’ve created the least chances as well, but we’ve scored three goals. It’s funny how that happens.

"I’m not relieved, just satisfied that we got what we deserved. If we got what we deserved in every other [home] game and won the games drawn to have five more wins, I don’t think it would have been unreasonable."
