Chelsea striker Fernando Torres must improve his form in the second half of the season, Spain coach Vicente del Bosque has warned.

Torres has struggled at Stamford Bridge since his move from Liverpool one year ago and has scored just five times for Chelsea in 23 appearances.

It is a poor return from a previously prolific hitman who cost the Blues a whopping £50M.

And the 27-year-old’s struggles have not gone unnoticed in his native Spain, with Del Bosque becoming concerned about his out-of-form striker.

"It’s a concern", admitted the former Real Madrid boss to AS, adding: "He’s not playing much."

There is time though for the situation to change according to Del Bosque, but Torres must be playing and in form to head to Euro 2012, where Spain will defend their title.

"If he plays and is on form he’ll go to the Euros.

"But if the situation doesn’t change it is going to be difficult for him.

"There are five months until the European Championships during which everything could turn around.

"Fernando deserves respect for his record and he has our confidence."
