Catania president Antonino Pulvirenti has revealed he no longer feels duty bound to sell striker Maxi Lopez to AC Milan and will instead open the door to other clubs.

Lopez has been on Milan’s January hitlist, but the Rossoneri have declared a focus on Carlos Tevez, vowing to wait until the very end of the window to sign the Manchester City man and leaving Catania kicking their heels.

And the Serie A side, who have also seen their striker targeted by English Premier League duo Everton and Tottenham Hotspur, are ready to discuss Lopez’ departure openly with other sides.

"With AC Milan, it’s over", said Pulvirenti to Sky Sport 24.

"There was a maximum time and nothing has been done.

"During the transfer window, you can never say never, but we now consider ourselves free to deal with other clubs.

"The most realistic possibility for Max is to go abroad or to stay at home."

Lopez is under contract with Catania until 2013. He has scored three goals in 13 Serie A games this season.
