French giants Marseille are struggling to shift Argentine midfielder Lucho Gonzalez on from the Stade Velodrome, according to an agent with knowledge of the club.

The 30-year-old was a target for Arsenal in the summer, but Arsene Wenger only sent a loan proposal to Marseille, meaning that Gonzalez was prevented from making what he later admitted would have been a dream move.

In the current window Greek giants Olympiacos have been heavily linked with a bid, while several other sides are monitoring developments.

But according to agent Christophe Monge, it is unlikely that the Argentine midfielder will be on the move.

"The problem with Lucho is his cost", said Monge to La Provence.

"He was bought for €18M and he is only rated at €3M-€4M today.

"Given his age, the club which buys him will have no real prospect of resale in the future.

"In addition, things are complicated by a salary of €2.5M."
