Paris Saint-Germain have lost out in their bid to snap up David Beckham, the club’s sporting director Leonardo has revealed.

The PSG transfer supremo confirmed recently that Beckham was struggling with the idea of uprooting his family to move to the French capital, with the idea of remaining with Los Angeles Galaxy continuing to tempt the midfielder.

Leonardo also insisted that there were no problems with the contract placed in front of the Englishman – a deal which would have netted Beckham some €800,000 per month.

“It is over. It is a shame”, Leonardo told L’Equipe about PSG’s proposed Beckham swoop.

“The welfare of his family in LA, the wish not to change everything in his life, weighed heavily”, added the Brazilian.

Beckham was recently offered a lucrative one-year rolling contract to stay at Los Angeles Galaxy and appears to have opted to stay in the MLS.

The 36-year-old could have linked up with former AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti at the Parc des Princes.
